Análisis Cuantitativo (EMV) Quantitative Analysis (EMV)

El Valor Monetario Esperado Expected Monetary Value

De Subjetivo a Matemático From Subjective to Mathematical

Qualitative Analysis gave us colors (red, yellow, green). Now, in Quantitative Analysis, we take only the priority risks and transform them into money. Why? Because the Finance department will not approve a Contingency Reserve based on a red color; they need to know exactly how many dollars to set aside. This process is the mathematical foundation to justify the size of your Contingency Reserve.

🧮 La Fórmula EMV (Expected Monetary Value) 🧮 The EMV Formula (Expected Monetary Value)

EMV = Probabilidad (%)Probability (%) × Impacto ($)Impact ($)

Golden Rule: The impact of a Threat is always calculated in POSITIVE numbers (adds money to the risk budget). The impact of an Opportunity is calculated in NEGATIVE numbers (reduces the required budget because it generates savings).

Diagrams that help choose the best course of action under uncertainty. They calculate the EMV of different branches (e.g., Is it cheaper to build a new plant or repair the current one considering the risks of both options?).

A computational model that iterates costs or the schedule thousands of times using probability distributions. It gives us a certainty graph (e.g., "We have an 85% probability of finishing under $1.2M").

Analysis Result: If SR Consulting Group presents this document to the client, they will not ask for a padded estimate nor $65,000 (the sum of all worst-case scenarios). They will mathematically request $15,000 USD in Contingency Reserve, supported by statistical probability.
